And if your MB has the ability to select a bootable HD via the bios, you can
keep your XP image and boot between the two OS. This way you can experiment
with W7, and still have access to XP.

Con-Man is probably a stretch, older man looking to upgrade his station in
order to play with the latest and greatest before being called home is probably
much closer to reality.

One thing at a time. The static test with a DVM was quick enough to prove
that one should not be using the internal DC measurement as an accurate
indication of anything truly vital, other than to say that there is a voltage
present from the power supply. The O-Scope test is a
I noticed in the test setup announced earlier this morning that an RS35M was
going to be the power source set for 14.3Vdc. Considering that some have
commented on their Astron's actually being set to produce ~13.8Vdc, would it be
beneficial, or at least another real world data point to try the
Does anyone know, when using the built in voltage meter on the 5000A, where in
the DC power chain is it taking the reading, and how it is doing that function?
That may have some significance in what you see. But using an O-Scope right
where the DC power comes into the radio will tell all.
Jon,
I may be wrong, but the only data that gets transfered to the computer and
used is the calibration data from the 5000A EEPROM to PowerSDR when you
initially start PowerSDR for the first time, or if the calibration data has
changed. PowerSDR itself does not load anything up to the
Ken,
That is real good advice for everyone, particularly considering the majority of
everyone on this reflector requires their computers to operate their radio!!
For those possibly looking for a method of backing up their data, I use Acronis

Hi All,
Just curious, is there anyone running the 5000A with a single core CPU? If
so, what has your experience been? I have a 2.4Ghz 64bit AMD CPU lying around
with about 2Gig of RAM to dedicate to it. The CPU's L1 cache is 64Kb+64Kb, and
its L2 is 1Mb.
Thank you in advance.
I saw the very same thing when attempting to tune the clock on my Flex last
night. The carrrier signal for WWV on 5Mhz and 10Mhz looked much wider than
usual and had a horrific sound to it. Sounds like there may have been some
trouble at their station, but has since been fixed.
