I have previously owned and used a 3000 and a 1500 with success and enjoyed the
experience.
Recently, I acquired a 5000 with second RX and ATU.
It performs as expected except for one small thing:-
One of the Firewire ports doesn’t seem to function in that the PC doesn’t
recognise it.

You are probably OK. You experienced an abnormal shut down that put the
radio into a "funky" state. The full power cycle cleared it up.

Had something strange (to me) happen yesterday. I heard it start to
thunder and knew we were in for our evening thunder storms, so
un-plugged the antenna cable. As I was reaching to turn off the

If plugging the firewire into the port on the FLex shorts out that port does it
also have the same effect on the computer
i don't know what the li'l green led is for, either, but it does NOT
indicate correct function. I got a defective cable from Granite (they
replaced it without question) and the green light shone brightly the whole
time it was plugged in and I was cursing.

connection on the Flex but the results were the same...back to Flex for
repair...but now do I have to be concerned about the port on the compu
