Hi Dudley and Rich, Yes, I've used AGC-T and AF gain to improve reception. Adjust them accordingly as needed, AGC-T usually between 60 and 80. Have not had to deal with pulse type noises, so have not had a chance to exercise the NB. Tnx for your replies, 73 Olaf W9FY On Apr 12, 2014, at

Guys, Rather than use the NR, I use the AGC-t gain, much more effective than any NR. The AGC-T control should be your most used control. Now if you are having pulse noises, NB is more effective. 73, Dudley WA5QPZ Sent from my iPhone On Apr 11, 2014, at 10:54 AM, Olaf Nurmepuu

I agree Dudley and thats exactly what I do. AF gain sits at 50 and is rarely ever adjusted. I adjust volume with the AGC-T control and except for the case where the desired signal is very weak and in the noise the noise level is greatly reduced or for stronger signals completely eliminated.

Hi... wondering if some experts out there can verify... In playing around with the Flex-3000 and Flex-1500, it appears that the Noise Reduction (NR) algorithm becomes progressively less effective as the filter bandwidth becomes narrower. That, in turn, indicates to me that the NR algorithm is

Hi Dave, No expert, but I have noticed the same issue here with the Flex 1500, since I mainly operate CW, it is one of the few disappointments with the radio. On SSB there is a noticeable improvement in noise reduction at my QTH(using 2.7 to 1.8 kHz bandwidths), but on CW, using narrow filter

Yes, I definitely notice some audio artifacting when the NR is engaged. Running a 6-core AMD with Windows 7 64. Haven't *quite* it optimized per the various instructions floating around, but the NR on 2.0.16 seemed much smoother. I filed away a post about tweaking some of the settings in the DSP

I seem to remember an email about the NR Function, I can't seem to find any reply to the problem. My F5K has the problem of the NR having to be re selected after a period of time maybe 1-2 minutes it slowly goes' to nothing and has to be reselected. Any comments ? SDR is 2.06 SVN 3804.
