Thank you Tim.
It definitely is "Your mileage may vary".
I seem to have gotten the most benefit from changing
the Delta 44 control panel DMA buffer size from 256 to 1024.
I changed the PowerSDR Setup DSP buffers to 2048.
I experimented with PowerSDR Setup Audio buffers between
256 and 2048 and

From the FLex
From the FLex Radio Bug Tracker #394, currently running
PowerSDR 1.6.3 SVN 620, I did the suggestion of changing:
Delta 44 control panel,
Hardware Settings,
DMA Buffer Size
Latency from 256 to 512
This helped somewhat, but changing it to 1024 reduced
the popping/crackling, even in Histogram. In
I am just guessing, I would diff the UI code between 1.6.0 and 1.6.1.
I think it's related to some change in the PowerSDR software since
the poping doesn't happen with v1.6.0 and earlier. I'm not too concerned
since I think this will be fixed.

Not the DSP audio chain, but rather the analog audio chain, I suspect.
You can get all sorts of crosstalk trash in your audio output from
the display or the mouse. When t

BTW Jim, does the noise go away if you set the
Display Mode Off? (Panadapter, Waterfall, etc).
And does it get worse if you turn on Histogram?

Which version of PowerSDR are you using Jim?
I get crackling on 1.6.2 and later beta versions,
and I'm using the Delta 44, even with slower FPS.
Bug Tracker #394. I don't hear it on 1.6.0 or 1.6.1.

I have been playing with the PowerSDR software using my in-built sound
card
(RealTek AC 97). All signals sound buzzy, with a popping on peaks that I
have surmized is clipping even with the playback volume set very low. I
would appreciate any advice/suggestions. I keep thinking about Lyle's
