I haven't looked at the PowerSDR very much but an application which is
required to run in near real-time should:
a) lock itself into memory and,
b) if there are enough cores / threads available it should set the affinity
of critical threads.

Many of us are running laptops with less than fast HD access and other
hardware trade-offs, which can cause DSP latency spikes. DSP latency spikes
has been some conversation for some time here, as spikes in DSP latency
causes PowerSDR to freeze. I have also posted this to the Yahoo group.
