I don't use Vista but have followed some Flex threads about snipping
services that aren't need, in order to lighten the prrocess(or) load.
Today's Windows Secrets newsletter mentioned this freeware program
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/vsoptimizer.html and it might be useful(?).

It might be a great utility buy make sure you are making the
decisions and not the tool. Its like guys running registry
cleanup/fixers. They find hundreds of issues and we blindly click
fix all then when we reboot the system doesn't work and we resort to
the Use last known good configuration
