Here is an article by Sinisa YT1NT which describes how
the Orion AGC works and how to set it up. The Orion
is close to the SDR in the way the RX works. The
Orion uses a single conversion RX through a roofing
filter before demodulation to 11 khz and then sending
that signal to a DSP unit.

that was written for the TT Orion owners manual (you can download it from
the TT site) regarding optimizing SDR AGCs for and band conditons. It should be re-quoted, paraphrased.

person's particular taste as per the KB article by Phil Harman VK6APH on this
subject. I was hoping that eventually we can figure out how to set up
"profiles" for different operating styles. Perhaps something like, weak s
