Would you say that "critical theorists" and art historians
are more likely to have a public "pop star" persona in
France (Europe?) than in the US? If so, why do you think
that is? /:b

aw, Jennifer... ok, out of curiosity, please provide one
instance when "art historical scholarship has served human
freedom in important ways by shedding light on the false
assumptions and claims that are sometimes used to support
oppressive institutions."

I liked the crinkly, microsound at the beginning... Just had
my watch battery replaced. The second hand on this old
wristwatch now runs backward for several seconds then
forward and back... (!)

It most certainly is, and I'm definitely interested!

I've kind of already started this... I got a few "used" decks from a casino, so they
already have a bit of
history to them. (Being handled by who-knows-how-many anonymous pers
Well, art-history is merely about an antiquated,
hierarchical validation by institutional acolytes... you
know... this is less problematic when referencing unpaid
dead artists. [I've suspected that "critical authentication"
was the essential intent behind this list's development.]

I'm open to suggestions. Jokers would be good, so let's say 54 pieces in
each deck.
I was originally thinking that each participant would select a card (for
example I may take Queen of Hearts, you may take King of Diamonds, etc.)
until all are accounted for, but your idea of mixing
what about a huggies (unscented) 80 wipes box?

Dear Bertrand,
Your comments certainly echo my thoughts. We do identify ourselves through
our studies, though America has so many more art historians and universities
than France does that even people with an identity often seem to disappear.
In terms of my committee, I don't yet know what will

I like Brad's mesh box idea - I'll transfer my vote
to that

Playing cards sounds like fun. Great
idea.
I'll send you a contribution. Will they be the
regular size?
1a Do we send one card which you copy 54 times
(including jokers)?
1b or send a design for one card which you
print?
OR
2 do we send a certain number of the same card -
say 54
