FOP classes to manipulate existing PDF files?

Hello. I have a need to open an existing pdf, extract and modify some of the text, and write my changes back to the pdf. Do any of the FOP classes support this? I have read the only API I was able to find (http://www.cs.helsinki.fi/group/xmltools/formatters/fop/Fop-0.20.2/javadocs/overview-summar
