Today I update my FOp version from 0.20.3RC to 0.20.3 and I discovered that
my document containing characters in fonts like symbol and ZapfDingbats,
suddenly had lost almost every character.
Consider the following:

With fop 0.20.3RC
MathML
content. It is primary a Transformer/Serializer for the Cocoon project,
and
creates GIF images or converts the MathML content to SVG.
I don't know how advanced that is but adding an extension to do the
conversion in fop would be no problem.

I explained my problem to them (XEP wouldn't even begin processing my doc)

breaking into smaller pages sequences, it is much faster and doesn't freeze.
Typically about 25 pages or less per page sequence seems to be fine.

i have had some difficulties with fop 0.19 and fop 0.20.
first of all I'm processing a 400 page book, and have delt with memory
problems etc.
I use the following startup command to solve my memory error etc:
java -Xms64M -Xmx512M -cp
