The shrinking idea is a good one. I'll give that a try.

Luke,
Resolution is a tough nut. You can find more info on the FOP Graphics
page[1]. A couple of patient people have done tons of testing, which
you can find in the archives from a year or two ago. The way I got high
quality was to create a 300dpi logo image that was larger than I
needed, t

Hi,
My solution to resolve this problem is to use the different zone. The body zone
is over the region-before zone.
Also, you can put your image in the body zone and your data in the region-
before zone.

One known workaround is to use a static-content bound to a region-before or
region-after that overlaps the entire region-body. Then in
Hi
I tried to follow the hints on graphics resolution and set an image
width using the content-width property. Unfortunately this did not
work, probably because background-image itself is a property of
fo:region-body..
I 'solved' the problem in the meantime by resampling the image to 72
dpi. Th

I want to include a background image (a png with a 200 dpi resolution)
in the region body of a simple page master.
In the outcoming pdf the resolution of the image has changed to 72 dpi
which is of course not what I wanted. The image is far too big and
doesn't fit the page size anymore. Why does

OK, this should get published in about 2 hours at the following URL:

This is not quite correct. FOP ignores any DPI specification possibly

The solution I use is to set the image size 3 time less than the real size.
It works fine.

I've been having some trouble displaying fo:external-graphic jpgs with

Hi,
I have just tried your hint and it happens to work. I have checked that
the printed image was okay with a barcode reader.
Thanks for your help.

Hi,
This is my fault. I did not make it clear that I was generating barcodes
via an API (IDAutomation actually) that generates images.
I already tried to give fixed values to content-width and content-height
but the printed results looks awkward. It seems that the scaling algorithm

I doubt it is available for Java, since it is a stand-
alone product for Windows & Mac. Check out:

Depending on what platform you are using, there might be
something useful for you there.

Ok, thanks for your help. I will have a look at StreamLine. Do you know if
it is available for Java ?
Thanks

I'm sorry. Streamline is an Adobe product that converts
bitmap files to vector files. I'm sure there are other
products that do the same thing, I'm just familiar with
Streamline.
You and I are in the same boat as far as not knowing
much about SVG. I understand the concept behind it
Hi John,
I don't know much about SVG. What exactly do you mean by using StreamLine
? Is it a process to turn a bitmap into vector based graphics ?
Can you give me more details about the solution you used ?
Thanks

Pascal,
I had a problem similar to this. I scanned in a
person's signature and opened it in Illustrator, then
saved it as SVG. Viewing the SVG file in IE and in
Illustrator it looked fine, but in my pdf it was too
large. I then decided to convert the bitmap to a vector
image using Streamli
