Hi John,
Yep, that was part of our (relatively short) discussion as well. I cannot
recall why we dropped it at that time, but the Board Governance Committee
proposed this now as a good practice.

Hi Ziko and Lodewijk,
Thank you for this feedback. I must say that I was not intimately involved in
these recommendations, and my take was that this was something that came out of
the MR workgroup, and we had actually waited too long to approve these
recommendations.
It is clear to me that the

Having had the honor of being one of the first outside appointed board member
to the Wikimedia Board I do want to add that one of the main reasons for having
appointed members is to get an outsiders perspective. This is generally

Its not true, I was there (and haven't forgotten) and it isn't true. Please

Hi All,
We would like to take this opportunity to announce the new Wikimedia Education
list. During the past Wikimania conferences we seen incredible examples of
educational use of Wikimedia Projects or Content. During the recent chapter
conference in Berlin we saw some more. These are often no
great idea which we can
execute together. Our projects are growing, and our contributor numbers are not
growing with them. That is hurting quality, and at the end of the day... thats
what we are judged on.

Hi,
Just a short note from me (currently stuck in Cologne due to cancelled trains ;(
After being fortunate enough to have been able to serve four years as Vice
Chair of the Wikimedia Foundation and the departure of Michael I was not as
enthousiastic about being the vice chair again. The board r

educational or informational value, and to remove them from the projects if

Hi Phoebe and all,
We are electing three people to the board this summer.
The way things were designed the chapter seats (2) are appointed in
every EVEN year, and the directly elected seats (3) will be elected
every ODD year. Obviously we might have to make an exception this year
because it
will be published in
the beginning of April by the election committee. So if you are
interested in becoming a candidate, time to start preparing!
