I am sure that Rick will answer soon enough, but I cannot resist noting
the fact that he is selling PDF versions of the older book on his web
site for $25. :)
I too await his new book on FrameScript though ...

Hi Rick,
Off topic for the Windows 7 thread, but it was the easiest way to send you a
message.
Do you have any plans to republish your FrameScript crash course book? Even
in PDF only?
If not, can you recommend any other books on FS?
Thanks lots and belated Happy New Year.
PS, I agree with you

If you import the PDF pages into anchored frames in the FrameMaker file, and
save it as an RTF, the pages from the PDFs are preserved in the resulting
Word file. Of course, if you import the PDFs directly onto the FrameMaker
pages (and not in an anchored frame), they don't export to the Word file.

Yes, you can do this. Create it as a hypertext link, define your
target as normal, but instead of a textual launch point, you use a

Hi, Lynn.
1. This book that is puzzling me does not have any graphics in any of
the .FM files in it. No PDF, no JPG, no FM graphics, etc.

I also got a call from Rick Quatro explaining this method. Thanks to

I put the graphic in an anchored frame with a text box over it which
contains the hypertext marker. Works fine!

Hi Corinne
This is how we do it with unstructured FrameMaker:
1. We print the PPT to PDF.
2. We design a FrameMaker template which looks exactly like the slides in
the PPT (background image, titles, bullet points...), but we also have
sufficient space on each page for training notes.
3. We import

I would like to be able to link to another Frame document by using a

They can be in EPS graphics, for one. Not sure if an embedded PDF would
trigger the problem, since theoretically the PDF would either have the
fonts embedded in itself, or make an on-the-fly substitution.

I'm using Frame 9 (I also have Frame 8 available).
I have come across such anomalies. Then it has had to do with imported
documents, like OLE linked Visio files or imported pdf files made on
another system (older version of M$ Windoze, usually).
I have just ignored it and everything will print OK. Never had a real
