Frame 8, Acrobat Pro X
Dear Framers,
I have a book of >100 short fiction stories (i.e. 25 words long). Each
story starts at the top of a new frame on the master page (4 to a page).
From the top, there is:

Related to my Manual > Task Sheet > Checklist project (you though the
single-sourcing challenge was tricky!):
I have the Checklist linking to various external publications that it

work for linking back automatically, but it doesn't address building the
TASK and CHKL out of the "comprehensive" IMPL (main book).
I'm leaning towards LOP, this week. Each Task and Step would link back

What does the format definition for your "Figure No." cross-reference format
look like?
I'm guessing that it looks like "Figure ", which specifies the literal
string you are seeing.
What it needs to look like is "Figure <$paranum>" or "Figure <$paranumonly>".
The "" building block is only used
I got nowhere when I was trying to understand how to create an FM10
project using XML source. Everything I found either seemed to be out
of date or was aimed at experienced users.

I seem to have a lot of trouble getting this to work and considering
FrameMaker's reputation for stability once it's set up it doesn't seem to be
very reliable.

I was just part of a FrameMaker discussion on LinkedIn where it was pointed
out that using FM7 XML tutorials might confuse you because both have
changed so much. Comments?

Have you tried either turning off the toolbar with the drop-down or
rearranging that toolbar (in Maker.ini) to no longer show that list box?
I do the former within minutes of launching any new setup.

Thanks for this input and to the other replies that came back to me direct.

the last document in the book. (As an aside, I'm stunned that a piece if

Hi,
At least the paragraphs which are used for bookmarks could
be set for each file individually already in FrameMaker 8. I had
used this to add the GroupTitlesIX paragraph format solely in
the index file to get the single characters as bookmarks (and
similarly for the glossary headings). There wa

The warning is just pointing out that there's a difference between the book
settings & the document - it can be ignored. If you set numbering by the book,
update it & save the book, it should be sticking. If it's not, then there's
something else going on.
