Dear Framers:
If you are thinking of upgrading to FM 11, think again
This is definitely an Adobe TCS4 problem. Please look at the Adobe forums,
six complaints.
What I did:
I created a new book in TCS4 using FM template files book, Index and TOC.
The fresh book crashed as soon as I hit print.

Hi Rob
I have just tested print to PS and it works for me when I create a new Fm
11 file and book. It does not work when I open an Fm book which was created
with an earlier version of Frame, but does when I first open and save all
the files in that book.
I'm using Fm11 on Windows XP SP3.

Yesterday FrameMaker (8) ran fine. This morning I get a message that
says The application failed to initialize properly (0xc022).
Anyone have any ideas how to get things running again, short of
reinstalling?
Thanks.

For those using FM10's CMS Connector with SharePoint 2010: Is the file
dialog reasonably responsive when you want to add a graphic or other
file to a document? We find it very slow, but we aren't sure whether
the issue is with the CMS Connector or with our SharePoint installation.
You may have a corrupted linguistics folder - try renaming it and start FM
again

Nobody is a bit strong. I can print a book to PS from FM11 without
trouble. When I try to print an earlier version FM book to PS, nothing
happens unless I open all of the files in that book (no crash, just
nothing).
It does appear that there are a number of print to PS/PDF issues
I'm getting the same issue too with a fresh download of TCS4 last week - FM
11.0.0.380. I created a couple of dummy files based on the Harvard outline
factory template, then created a new book to include the test files. Saved
everything, reopened the book and tried to print the book - crashed
This kind of feedback is great.
I can't even consider upgrading until this is fixed because I can only use the
Print Book (PS then distill) option on some of my books as they have mixed
paper sizes.

Thank you to those that responded to my problem. What actually happened
is that Sophos anti-virus sent out a bad update that ended up
quarantining adobeupdater.dll and framemaker wouldn't run without it. We
had to fix sophos and do a system restore and then it worked.

Hi all
You may remember a while back I asked for help regarding arguments I
could use to persuade my company to use Framemaker for its docs.
I'm sorry to report I have lost the argument.

Many thanks to all of you who responded.
One of the things I always liked about using Frame was the community of
users: generous and helpful. After a long absence, it's nice to see that
fact has not changed.
In the end, I fear that I will give up on using Frame for this project,
as much as it
I already have utilities that let me page through 250 fonts to find a
particular character. Search would save a lot of time.
