I see folder for 12 and 13 in my directory, but not 15.

Hi Alison,
I guess I wasn't clear. The text is already in a variable. The problem is
that there are 3 different legalese variables I could use depending on
audience and a couple other factors. One variable is used when the document
is only for us; the other two are variations for external customer
If the footer text is the only External text you need then it doesn't have to
be a condition, it can be a variable instead.
Create an "External" variable file with a single "Proprietary Footer" variable
(containing the proprietary footer text) and an "All Other" variable file with

The company has standardized on Frame, so Flare is not an option.
We really need to be in DITA. We were doing that before we were acquired
and the centralized technical communications department got siloed to
individual business units, and my new boss decided that he wanted me to use

I found FrameMaker's conditions became hard to use and maintain with
even three overlapping deliverables: in one case, for students,
teachers, and system administrators, in another customers, managers,
and sysadmins.
Flare's reuse features are much more manageable and transparent for

Excellent idea. You could even configure a script to put corresponding page
numbers in the plain text document so that when you found the text in the
text copy, you could more easily locate the text in the FrameMaker document.

I wanted to thank you again for the help with this. I was looking at a
nightmare, and it's now just a bad memory. :-)
While it already seems to be working fine, I wanted to double-check
something. The expressions are set up as you suggested, to NOT the
conditions I don't want visible in a particul
Would it be an option for you to keep a copy of every FM document in
plain text? This is not as cumbersome as it sounds, since you can
install an Extendscript which saves the plain text copy automatically
whenever you choose File > Save.

I'd probably name that TrustedCustomerOnly (or NDACustomerOnly?)

Hi Andrey...
You may have better luck asking this question on the framemaker-dita
Yahoo list. Also, providing a bit more information would probably help
as well (in particular, your FM version and OT version).
It's very possible that the OT build scripts have changed enough that
the FM conne
One quick note on the below: Save expression on a Reference Page in
your template(s) (if only in one, I'd go with your cover/frontmatter
template). Then you can easily copy & paste without running an outside
application. (I'm still in Frame8 Land, so if there's a way to save

What are the names of the target files where the links don't work. Do any of
the paths have special characters or more than one space in them?

When I try to build DITA 1.3 bookmap I get an error message:
[DOTX008E][ERROR] File '*.ditamap' does not exist or cannot be loaded.
With DITA 1.2 all is OK.

A strange thing happened to me when I created a book in FM and added
TOC, LOF and LOT.
The TOC links to Chapter 1 are OK but for all the other chapters, when I
try to link, I get a message that these chapters are missing.
I use Agent Ransack. It's a free search utility that can search inside
files, including FrameMaker files.
