It's been some time since I created documents for translation, but
generally remember:
- Stick to deadlines for English source documents and don't allow anyone
to talk you into changing them
- Some languages take longer to translate and are more expensive (i.e.,
Chinese)
- Some lang
Documentation creep - like every 4 months project management "thinks" up
another document (or decides that original docs should be split into x) and
expects the one assigned writer to pick it up
Buy-in from project management on the documentation to be written that
"don't change over time"

Thank you very much Martin. I was beginning to think I was going to have to
recreate a 185 page container file from scratch.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

I was using FrameMaker with remote desktop today. It was fine as far as I

The Single-sourcing SIG of the STC just finished this discussion.
I'd say "Click the Browse button". I'd omit the "...to activate the
browser."

Other questions might be: does your client want all of translations in one
document?
Speaking from some translation experience: you also need to decide what
"flavours" of languages you want? If the product will be sold in Central and
Latin America as well as Europe, you may want to try Internatio

I have this problem but in my case it's consistent.
After I've rebooted my computer, the first time I try to create a PDF from a
file or book it doesn't work. If I immediately use "save as" again, it's
fine.

She needs to use Acrobat 7 Pro if she wants to get the full advantage of the
commenting feature.
It's a great feature with very few problems (for its first release). I'd
recommend it to anyone who is tired of getting comments back in varied
formats. The auto online help feature is great as well.

We used to use SourceSafe and CVS. They were okay. Then the company changed
to Perforce, which I found so much easier to use and was a lot more
user-friendly.
