And, there is a FrameMaker plug-in that can automate this while using
FrameMaker - very easy to install and not worry about this specific issue.

Slow scrolling due to slow image rendering has been an issue in
FrameMaker forever.
Has anyone ever experimented with scrolling through a test document on
various PCs to see whether the bottleneck is CPU speed, video card
horsepower, disk speed, or something else?
I suspect that FrameMaker is ren
FrameMaker users Windows print services, and they don't do anything like that.
FrameMaker's default printer should always be set to Adobe PDF.

Thanks for jogging my foggy memory, Mike. I think this idea may only have
been pertinent to UNIX systems, and IIRC it was fixed, but it's worth a
mention in case it sparks other ideas. One particular new or updated FM

the file. If open when you load the file, FrameMaker loads all the
images before it displays the file (and, of course, populates the info

In the early days of publishing, it was common to use placeholder graphics
for a variety of reasons, then replace them with the "real" images before
sending the documents to production. The placeholders were usually marked
conspicuously "For Position Only," but occasionally some would slip past

Hi John,
well, it is common that loading of graphics takes longer when the files
are stored on network drives. You could try to gather all files on a
local drive.
Another kind of obstacle are certain anti-virus softwares. Maybe the
most frequently used file types should be put on a "white li
