When I play a DVD with mplayer (usually with these options)
mplayer -brightness 9 -autosync 30 -dvd 1 /dev/dvd
I can play the DVD without ANY problems what so ever. The problem is

I just bought a cheap ATAPI/IDE DVD drive from best
buy. It's a Digital Research DRDVD1640. The box didn't
say it was missing anything and I checked the box and
there wasnt a IDE cable in there. It wasn't suppose to
be one cause it didn't come with one. So, I was like

I would like to see if others are getting similar errors with
dvd-slideshow. If you have the current ports tree, try to install and
run dvd-slideshow. The ports tree has version 7.2. When I try to run

Im looking to extract some of my dvd's, not convert to mpeg4 or
anything...
simply extract the video_ts and audio_ts... Is there any application
in the ports tree that can do this for me?

with ATAPICAM added.
Built an iso with mkisofs, and can burn it out with burncd to CDR
no problem (if 700MB or less or so, of course.)

I did try to burn data DVD with my NEC DVD ND-1300A but I got an error:

It failed for some reason, but I can't eject the disk now. Button
doesn't work, and eject-1.5_4 errors out too:

I get sometimes the following error when I burn DVDs. Actually it happens
more often than not... When burning a DVD with growisofs, burning stops with
the following message:

I have ISO's for FreeBSD 5.3R, FreeSBIE, Knoppix, etc... and I want to
dump them all onto a DVD-R and have the ability to choose which OS to
boot off the DVD - like a boot menu. Is this possible?

be warned, you are dealing with a 'newbie'
i have one machine that has internet access and another that does not
both machines were installed with FreeBSD_RELEASE_8_1 with a DVD
i am now using cvsup to upgrade the RELENG_8_1_RELEASE tree
my second machine does not have working eth
I have a back up DVD that I cannot mount. dd won't read /dev/acd0 with
an error "dd: /dev/acd0: Input/output error".Tried dvdisaster but it
can't find my drive. Any pointers you can offer in getting this data off
this disc are greatly apprecia
I am periodically backing up a bunch of files to DVD. I use mkisofs to create
the original image and growisofs to write it to a real DVD. However, at that
point I want to verify that the write was successful. I tried using dd to read
back in the DVD to a file. Its interesting that the bs
