Aha! The problem was my lack of monitor refresh rates, I guess the autoconfigure failed to detect them. When I added the lines: HorizSync30.0 - 96.0 VertRefresh 50.0 - 160.0 to the "Monitor" section all was well. Thank you all for your help!
