I am trying to configure a PCCard based CD-ROM device (PCGA-CD51).
Much detail on where I am with this can be found at:
the parameter is optional. DEVICE should be either `fd'

I get a strange error when booting from my custom boot CD. I'm booting an
encrypted system, just a GENERIC kernel and a fstab file are on the CD. The
whole time i was building and testing the system i kept getting this CDROM
error right near the end of the boot process. It doesn't stop

I had same looking problem with much cheaper hardware (MSI motherboard

was able to boot from the cdrom, but was not able to install as
sysinstall says cdrom not found.

reads/writes do not have the same effect.
I think they both should have similar effect on system performance since
multiple requests should just wait till completion interrupt and other
processes shouldn't be affected
I think that if your CDROM drive or CD is bad or you have dust on the lens
of CDROM drive the system will try to correct the problem by making
several reads on the same sector of the CDROM. So this takes system time
and the whole system goes slower. Try different CDROM drive or different
CD

In the handbook section 2.13.1 Creating an Installation CDROM it states
that there is an mini.iso file which contains everything needed to install
FreeBSD. I do not see this file on the FreeBSD FTP download sites for 5.3 or
5.4 RC4. What happened to this small iso file. What is the new name

work, though.
