pkg info gives me a full list of all installed ports, pkg_info complains
about a lot of corrupted package infos, but i think this is related to,
pkg is new and pkg_info is the old tool.

Dear list,
I checked the file /usr/ports/UPDATING and there is noted 20121218 for
icu to execute the command:
portmaster -w -r icu
(my system is already on pkgng as described a in the UPDATING file,
20121015).
If I execute now portmaster i get the following error message
Try again, with a clean build, after having made sure that you've
removed all remnants of the earlier icu versions; and make a
transcript of the build:
pkg_delete -fv "icu2-*" "icu-*"
script /tmp/icu.log
make -C /usr/ports/devel/icu deinstall clean install

Icu is a necessary dependency for Gimp, but I can't get it to install.
I checked UPDATING and it states that icu4 is now deprecated, and one
should install /devel/icu. But when I try to do that the file that is
downloaded is icu4c, and the install goes along until it chokes with

Hi!
I'm a FreeBSD newbie, and I need a little help on installing
software.
When I try to install postgresql or vim from the ports tree, I get
the following error:
===>Verifying install for icui18n in /usr/ports/devel/icu
===> Building for icu-3.6
*** config.status
turns out it's my locale problem, after unsetenv LC_CTYPE, it went through..
thank you!!

I looked at the bug database, and there are some reports of this
problem; the port's maintainer has a workaround but appar

Several users, including myself, are unable to install 'icu-3.4'. I have
contacted both the maintainer and the 'icu' development staff regarding
this problem. The following is the feed back that I have received up to
this point.

First off, I'm somewhat of a newbie; sorry if this is daft...
I have been trying to get gtk-gnutella cvs to compile
with some new (internationalization) functions, using
ICU. Neither of the versions currently in ports
(devel/icu & devel/icu2) work; version 2.6.1 passes
configure tests
I get the following error with any attempt to use 5.1-RELEASE.
panic: inthand_add : Cant Initialize ICU
Previously I was running 4.7 and decided it was time to upgrade but when I
tried to run the boot floppies I found the setup program wouldnt load and
the computer would just reboot somewhere in
