Some /etc files seem out of date in RELENG_8 compared to RELENG_8_1

2010-12-02 Thread Geoff Roberts
Hi, I was just doing and update to 8-PRERELEASE from 8.1 by using the RELENG_8 tag in cvsup. When I used mergemaster to update /etc, there were a number of files being merged into /etc that are older revisions than those I had in 8.1. You can check this for example by comparing the revision

Problems moving hostapd AP config from 6.4 to 8.0RC2

2009-11-08 Thread Geoff Roberts
Hi, I had a working hostapd wireless access point configuration in FreeBSD 6.4. The access point is being used by Windows XP workstations. I was using WPA-EAP with freeradius authentication very successfully on the 6.4 backend. After making the changes for a new 8.0 RC2 (see below) system the

Hi, I have built a FreeBSD 7.0RC2 system to use both the serial and video consoles. I find that when I drop into single user mode (shutdown now) on the terminal connected to the box itself I do not see the single user mode prompt on the serial console terminal. Likewise, when I drop to single

devfs.rules include rule question in 6.2 release

Hi, It seems you can't recursively use the "include" rule specification with devfs in Freebsd 6.2. I couldn't see a note about this in the devfs man page so I'm not sure whether this is expected behaviour or not. For example, the devfsrules_jail is defined as the following in /etc/defaults/dev

System freeze on 6.1/2 when running makeworld and dump

Hi, I can consistantly make my system freeze when building makeworld and running dump at the same time. The system actually locks - I have to hit the reset switch to bring the system back to life. I also get a core dump on current. I have mounted the file systems as follows: / /tmp /usr /usr/o
