Hi,
As mentioned, sadly, most "classic" (old) DOS software knows
nothing about cards outside of a limited range like SB16 and GUS.
Everything newer (e.g. AC97 or HDA) is almost always incompatible. So
it's unlikely you can just "plug in" a driver to make it work.
If you can recompile some apps

Here's some more info on my sound card (I got it from running the command
"mpxplay.exe /sct"):

You shouldn't have to, but that's certainly an option. You can use the
/DisableLegacy option (either on the command-line or in the USBUHCIL
environment variable) to bypa

DOS programs where made to be compatible with specific hardware.
The success of your program was to have a broad hardware compatibility.
In the case of sound, every program was SoundBlaster compatible
because almost everybody have one, games for instance.

Hey,
I need to know how to find, figure out, configure or whatever my sound
driver. I need a driver for my sound card, but I don't know how to do it.
If this helps at all, somehow Mpxplay magically got the sound to play
through my PC speakers, while all my other programs and games (mostly the

Hi Eric,
My MB has EHCI/USB 2.0 and OHCI/USB 1.1. My understanding was Bret's drivers
are strictly UHCI.
On most OHCI drivers (including DOSUSB), the driver will load but then the
keyboard starts acting erratically. (I'm using PS2 keyboard not USB)
Effectively the computer is not usable at

EHCI = USB 2.0, OHCI = similar to UHCI, both USB 1.x...
(you have no XHCI = USB 3.0 I guess) In what ways do the
DOSUSB drivers work, in which ways do they n
I've tried the Panasonic driver, it hangs on my PC. Also tried DUSE, Iomega
and whatever else was on a
boot disk which someone put together. Didn't bother trying Bret's drivers
because I have EHCI / OHCI. Georg's DOSUSB is the only one that works for me to
some degree.
Just curious if there

Hi,
Since I switch HIDs between two PCs using an USB switch, I would be
happy if the USB mouse worked.
I tried Bret J.'s USB driver. USBUHCI loads, but complains about legacy
USB mode. Do I have to switch off legacy in BIOS?
after the driver is loaded, the keyboard does not work any more.

Hi,
let's continue where I stopped a year ago. ;)
I tried fdupdate to update my 1.1 installation.
But, the DOS PC is still offline. I don't have a spare network cable. Is
there any way to tell fdupdate/fdpkg where to find the files locally?
I believe there are a lot of packages that are not yet
Hi,
some of you may remember: I tried 1.0 a long time ago, and failed.
Now I successfuly installed 1.1 and it runs fine. Thanks ;)
