I put the patch in /usr/local/src/freeradius ( where I compiled free
radius). I compiled free radius in /usr/local/radius.
then I did patch < filename
it asked me for fiel name again and I gave it as
freeradius-mod_sql_authenticate.patch

I have free radius 0.8.1 installed with mysql module. I have mysql3.23.49
installed aswell. Right now when I run radiusd, it does run with sql module.
When I try to connect by any user, the user does'nt get authenticated by
Mysql rather it goes to system file and tries to get authentic
