I was wondering if someone can set me straight. It seems like all
modern video cards have DVI-I out. I understand this is to drive flat
panel monitors.
I remember hearing several months ago that [some standards group]
decided that the HDTV interface would be DVI. I was excited. Now that

Hi Peter,
I sent a series of emails explaining this that should solve the
problem. The issue is not with tv_sort, but a change in North American
listings that is fixed in recent pre releases of Freevo, including
1.3.2pre1

I'm not getting the error message from tv_sort, but it's still not
fixing the entries with no stop date. Could it be broken? I haven't
had time to do more than a cursory look at the code at this point.

I'm interested; though I'd like to see what happens with Xiph before
going further. I'm sure that whatever happens with encoding, it'll
involve either pipes or some other way of specifying how to encode.

It's in 2.5 and if you get the Con Kolivas patch it ships there too...

xfs is designed to handle large files speedily.
It is in some kernels, some not. If you compile your own kernel, you
can put it in if you patch the kernel. It's not too difficult to do.
That said, I still recommend against xfs, since it still has d

Not yet, as far as I know, though you can customize the colors and the
fonts. It depends what level of customization you want. We can't add
shaded rounded boxes behind the text yet, but there is a fair amount
you CAN do, and it's much nicer than mplayer for television anyway.

Actually, I was going to give XFS a try, particualrly
since it was made for video files, etc., but it seems
to have disappeared from the kernel. :-(

It's funny this thread should arise because I now think that my recent
crash was due to filesystem corruption (maybe not the crash but probably
my inability to boot from my root fs). I too am using Reiserfs.

Rob,
Can you perhaps add tvtime to the runtime, it only requires xlibs, and
a dynamic binary is about 350k. I just think that for the many people
who have had audiosync problems, it's a much nicer alternative. Plus,
after you and Dischi try it, you may be convinced to switch from
mplayer to tvtime
In case anyone is wondering, I have removed this download from the
website until I recover my machine and have a chance to add
freevo_python to the package. Sometme this evening... (~10 hours).
Sorry for any inconvenience,

I wouldn't switch from Reiserfs, especially not to ext3; Reiserfs has
some big advantages namely, it's ability to deal with many small files
(mp3s, caches, etc.) and it's recovery stuff. I use Reiserfs both on
my Freevo box, and on a production webserver, which has experienced a

Ok, the biggest problem would be the fact that there's no freevo_python
inside! I guess I was too tired and messed up my last update. Anyhow,
my Freevo box won't boot now so I must fix that first.

Hi,
I use ext3
(http://www.redhat.com/support/wpapers/redhat/ext3/index.html#toc). My
filesystem has survived hundreds of "un-clean" system restarts with power
cycling without any failure.
UPS is supported by most Linux distros nowadays - check out the "UPS How To"
for more info.

Always use 'cvs update -dP'. -d also creates new directories, maybe
Its a standard feature on all the UPS I've ever used... usually a serial
port or more recently USB...
You can get all sorts of info from the UPS... run time, voltage, load etc
(depending on the type of UPS)...
Surely the partion type is a result of what the distro you are running
supports?
