Or really, is there any way to get the g400 heads working seprate from
each other? I want freevo on the TV-head and x11, or at least gnome, on
he other head.. Is this a possiblity?? I was thinking directfb was the
way to go but it looks like you can only see the TV out when directfb is
in use..
Hi all
I'm having a problem installing the 1.3.2
version.
The runtime and apps binaries where
installed ok, but when installing the freevo-1.3.2-1.i386.rpm I get this
message:
./runtime/apps/freevo_python: error while
loading shared libraries: libpng.so.3: cannot open shared object file:
Hi,
i am currently trying to get the logos for german tv channels, but
unfortunalty the TV.xml lacks the imgsrc-tags which are required by the
makelogos.py script. So I wonder, if someone knows a place where i can
get the logos or if anybody, who already have them can send me a package
of them
While browisng the list archive I noticed some comments to the effect
of if someone wants to write docco, we'll throw notes at them. Is
this still true?
If someone wants to throw notes at me, I'll see what I can do about
docco. Particularly interested in the .fxd file stuff at the moment,
but
As far as I know, it installs standard RPMs, not built ones. apt-get
is just a method for fetching packages...

I understand the issues with the number of incompatible RPM
distributions, all with different glibc's etc. In some ways, that's
what makes Debian an easier target; same with Gentoo, since you just

Part of my objection, is that I'm not fond of all in one
Has anyone set up Freevo with a WinTV PVR 350 card? I need to get a capture
card and would like to get the 350 as it has the onboard mpeg decoder and tv
out. I think in the long run I would be happier with this card if it is
supported. Does anyone have any experience with it? Good OR bad!

No, but a few of us here are using PVR 250's, with great results.

I don't think the driver support for the TV out is done, but for mpeg2
encoding, it should work. I'm using a PVR250 with my setup.

Cool Simon,
I just bought a WinTV 250 to replace my old ADS Channel Surfer bttv
card. I tried installing the WinTV card last night but I'm having driver
issues. Did you have to recompile your kernel with the ivtv drivers as
modules? Any pointers on setting this WinTV card up would be
If this is the PVR250, I didn't need to patch my kernel at all; just
extract the firmware, build the modules, and modprobe them. The only
weirdness was that the documentation claims that the tuner input is
input 0, but in my card, it was 4.

Yes it is a PVR 250. Thanks for the tip.

Well, not since you were already using v4l2. :)
You still need a kernel patched for v4l2.

I just installed a PVR250 last night as well and didn't have to patch or
recompile my kernel either. I also had to set the tuner input to 4
instead of the stated 0. I actually found the mythtv docs had some
helpful information on setting the card up as well. These are the docs
I found helpful:
In the build instructions for the modules, it says that you don't need
to patch the kernel...
V4L2 headers are required for ivyTV to compile. You can either patch
your kernel with v4l2 headers or copy the included
videodev2.h from the utils/ directory to the driver/ directory.

I'm not sure; it's probably the better route, but it's not necessary.

You say that you did not have to do anything to the kernel for the 250, Does
this hold true for the 350 or am I getting into a kernel rebuild. I'm not
sure I'm up for that but at the cost of a 250 I would hate to but it now and
later wish I had popped for the 350 when all of its features are
As far as I know, they both use the same encoder chip, so you wouldn't
need to do anything different for the 350. Still, it's worth doing the
kernel patch if you can.

Like i said before. Don't kill the new guy. ;)
Thanks, i took a look at that file and it explained everything fine for
me. I got the listings to work like they should. I just bought a TV
tuner card off of ebay. Should be coming in soon. Probably monday.
I'll work more with freevo then.

Hi,
I added a new feature to Freevo in CVS. If you don't have ssh access,
wait 24 hours or until the night-tarball gets updated.
Some people wanted to write fxd files for files in read-only
directories, like some samba shares or a rom drive. Logical, this
can't work. There is no an extra data

Not yet. However this is something I have been thinking of more and
