Your new TV should have either a dvi (hdmi) or vga input if you use those (and your video card can handle it) you can run at any resolution (I'm using 1280x720). But I have the same problem as you, freevo is streched I was able to fix mplayer with -monitoraspect 16:9 and xine with -pfhq. The

I tried a more expensive NVIDIA card (FX5600) and I still get the problem, I'd love to move away from NVIDIA but my ATI (9800XT) does the exact same thing, I could move to Matrox but as I understand it Matrox cards don't have good X support. So the question becomes what video card works best?

Ok I have a problem with the output on my TV, the screen is wider at the bottom, than at the top, and basically if I turn of TVOverScan the black bar on the right hand side is larger at the top. Has anyone else seen this problem and have any idea how to fix it? I realize this isn't a Freevo
