I use gentoo, more or less happy till now. Did not have big problems, even
compiling stuff for my own (xine with vdpau support, vdr etc). Though takes
time to take care of system because of compilations.

I used Ubuntu 9.10, however, I had all sorts of problems, especially
with lirc. Perhaps I should have used Debian. Freevo should have a
recommended distro or better yet, a distro/install disk. Something like
Piren was supposed to be, but up to date and an installer.

If you wish to try FL, I'd recomment waiting for a small time, since I'm
working on a new version, which is no remaster of MCNLive anymore, but build
from a clean MDV2007.0 system.
Also, I'll try to put the newer harddrake scripts (from MDV cooker
