Is there any chance that this is the pause when the memory is being checked? OS 9 had an issue with long boot times that could be solved with the memory control panel. Command and some other key would add a 4th radio button to the memory control panel that would skip the memory check on boot up.

I think you have a problem that demands that you start all over, including trying a second HD, removing backup battery, a PMU reset, Open firmware PRAM reset and OS reinstall (aka a clean reinstallation) and failing that trying a new PMU card. My WS II did display some strange behaviour regarding

Ok the firewire port on my tibook 500 died. And I need to get some type of alternative. I have a external cd burner and harddrive that require the 'bus' power also. I've looked into Firewire PCMCIA Cards but I need one that will also provide power to the external drives,etc. I found a card by
