Hello,
My DVD player, like most other new ones, will play VCD disks.
These are simple CD-R's that have MPEG-1 format videos on them.

Does anybody know if there is a difference between a MATSHITA CD-RW

I need to replace the optical drive in my 14 G4 iBook.
System profiler calls it a 8123. So far I have only been able to find
8123c units. The 8123c units appear to be black. I couldn't
The Aluminium is not portable: too delicate, while the iBook is

This statement has been bothering me. What's it based on?
Could you please tell us how you arrived at this conclusion or give

Hi Victoria,
I did an eBay search for you. I saw some real cheap items there. I think

Hey gang,
Can anyone tell me whether I can transplant a 32-bit CardBus PCMCIA
card cage from a G3 'Book into a 2400c?
They are not the same part. AT the very minimum you would need to
make a custom wiring harness, and that assumes the cages use the same
controller chip.
MCE charges $99
PB has DVI out and independent video [i.e. not just mirror]
PB also has line in/out, I believe -- I know iBook lacks same..
Worth the delta? Donno...
There is the firmware hack to enable video spanning on the iBook -- I use it
daily. It's very nice. The delta grows smaller... So I think
I just picked up a used 12 G4 powerbook over a new 12 iBook with a
faster processor. The used Powerbook was 25 dollars more expensive but
the battery tested out good. (two hours of a quick time movie on

Looks like this is not common knowledge, so here's the link:

This enables monitor spanning on an iBook (do check the commpatbility
list; 8 meg video cards don't work) with a larger resolution on your
external display.
Thanks for the link.

MCE charges $99 for Cardbus-enabling a 2400c. ... I have a hunch the card
cages use the same controller; if so, how hard/expensive to make that
