I just bought a good wallstreet off ebay but cannot get loose the small

When I plug it in the little green light lights and I can hear what I have

and put it back together (and I thought the 8500 washard) and the sound
card arrived.
We're all set and the darn thing still won't stay connected unless we use
a stack of index cards to support the plug
