I don't think there are OS X drivers for the Belkin adapters. I know I threw
mine away because of this. Now I use a Keyspan.

I'm really big on OmniWeb. Now built on the same html rendering engine
as Safari, but can do the https thing. Plus, it's gorgeous, and a joy

I've had a similar problem, but it involved an external monitor. The
solution for me was to write a little program that set the resolution
appropriate to either built-in or external display and to incorporate
it into the startup sequence.
