It's a neat concept, but nobody gets enough battery life, and this design would reduce the energy density of the battery. With two firewire ports, most folks don't run out. I don't think the bus would draw power unless something's plugged into it, though I may be wrong there. - Jeff Lentz ---

Gene, I have to second this nomination. I bought the same card at my local COMPUSA quite some time ago and it has yet to fail me, either under OS 9 or 10.whatever. On Wednesday, September 11, 2002, at 12:44 PM, Gene Merritt wrote: >>> Hello, >>> Two questions, if I may be permitted. >>> Fire

I don't know if this would be possible, but might it be? Could a battery be custom built to include a bus-powered FireWire/USB/USB2 port? Then you could just pop in the battery and have instant bus-powered ports, and you'd still have your PC card slot free for something else. You would be able

Short answer: Yes, it is possible. Long answer: It's possible for some things but not for others. I have an IBM FireWire PC Card for my Wallstreet. I use it to connect my iPod. You can get one for $30 or so. Orange Micro also makes one but it's about $80. The disadvantage to a FireWire card is
