What do you mean when you say that the processor is 'ticking'?? I don't think
they make any noise. Could it be because your hard drive is making that noise?
Your mention of 'ticking' reminded me of this: A little while ago, my Pismo
hard drive started making a lot of clicking (ticking?)

This is just a shot in the dark, no pun intended. I understand your
stress. Try two things. First, try resetting the Power Manager (Apple's
directions are as follows:
1. If the computer is on, turn it off.
2. Press the reset button on the rear of the computer. The reset
