i just tried copying the extension from a 9.2.2 system and although both extensions are identical in every way *except for the system they came from* (same version, creation date, etc.) it did not solve the problem, still getting the bomb error message when starting unless i disable that extens

Clean install saves the old system folder and installs a new system folder. Once you restart you can drag your old preferences etc into the new system folder. You can try copying the extension from another machine it should/might work. By the way some of your older apps like Explorer might
