Hello folks, Here's something to ponder. . .my roomates iBook 14.1 is having issues. I've already wiped his hard drive clean and re-installed OS X, but it's happening again. From time to time, his hard drive makes strange noises. . .like a faint grinding sound. Then, the computer freezes.

All i can tell you is that I've been told that if the iBook's HD makes anymore noise than a light whirr it's dying or dead. Needs to be serviced. Is it a G4 iBook? What I'm wondering is, is it new enough to be covered under warranty, or does it have current applecare? If so, take it in.
