Thanks, I will give that a try. I do not have the disks that came with my iBook so I have not been able to get anything else to work. I have tried zapping to PRAM four or five times in a row, going into open firmware and reseting from there and that did not help. I will give your idea a

I connected the iBook via Firewire target disk mode to my desktop and copied the OS 9.1 system folder over to the iBook hard drive. Then I updated the system on the iBook via Firewire to 9.2.1. Works great! I do have my hard drive in 2 partitions though so I don't know how this would work instal
