I'm using a card from ADS (http://www.adstech.com), on a Lombard with

There is a new Firewire 800 card out by Lacie. However it uses a separate
power supply because it is 800, and cannot be supplied with enough power
from the host computer, as I understand. Check it out.
However, it is not the 800 speed is compromised by the seek time of your
peripheral device.
