The Text Encoding setting in your email program needs to be changed.
The setting seems to be set to windows-1252 and needs to be set to
ISO-8859-1. If you are using Mail, then Text Encoding is the last
item under
Two more things that I just thought of...
1) If you have an email signature, that is in some format other than
Plain Text, then your message will not be accepted by the list. The
list accepts Plain Text only. Your rejected messages have been in a
format other than Plain Text.

accepts Plain Text only. Under the Format menu select Make Plain Text
before sending.
