Dual G5's use matched pairs, you can't boot with a single stick. This
complicates checking RAM and slots. Also, determining which slots are

Hi!
I would like to know if the limit of the pre-Quicksilver 2002 Power Macs is a
hard limit or whether it can be managed to access beyond this barrier.
I have a Quicksilver 2001, the 733 MHz model with an OWC Mercury Extreme G4
CPU Upgrade to 1,467 MHz and 1.5 GB of RAM. This doesn't look so
Search the G3-G5 list for "LBA48" and you'll see several good
discussions.
Also get the free Mactracker from:
http://www.mactracker.ca/
And it will show you your G4 does have the limitation.
It can be overcome with an Open Firmware update, or an IDE PCI
controller card.

Officially, the pre-QS 2002 ROM DOES NOT SUPPORT LBA48.

Meant to add, I recently chose to buy a Firmtek Seritek SATA PCI card
and 1TB SATA Seagate HD from OWC to solve the issue in my Digital
Audio Dual 533.

ANY iSAT or eSATA implementation implicitly provides LBA48, as all

While i do know from experience that "ata hi-cap driver" does work well, I
would recommend either a firewire enclosure or a pci ata or sata card.

Hello,
OWC tech support helped me out. They had me delete a folder and a
file in the System folder of my System 9 boot disk. The offending
folder was called multiprocessing and the file was Apple CPU Plugins.
I also discovered that I was running System 9.2.1 instead of 9.2.2

Everytime I open up network preferences on my Tibook to try and set up

stock condition, and has hardly ever been used. They are asking
$300.00, with the original discs, box, etc.
I'm still in B+W world, and wonder how good a deal/computer this is.
Here are the specs she sent me.

Not a bad price for a G5, but I you can find Intel mac Minis for about
