I have had my G5 2.5 Ghz dualie wit 4 GBRAM running 10.5.8 less than a
year so its' quirks are new to me. However when I try to view TV
programs on Fancast or MSNBC the fans really take off.
Is this normal operation?

I don't know a whole bunch about routers, i am looking for a wireless N
router. also 10/100/1000 wired. Looking for something with the possibility

Take out all the Ram sticks and run your computer with just one in place.
Use one of the modules that you know is good and try it in the suspect slot as
well.
That should tell you whether it is the slot or the stick that is at fault.
