I've had pretty good luck with Adobe Reader 7, which runs on OS X. (I
think you need version 5 for OS 9.) Versions 6, 8, and 9 all seem
bloated.

Do you have any plug-ins or inputmanagers installed, beyond the
normal Flash, Flip4Mac, and
I moved to Opera; it's noticeably faster than Safari.
