i'd like to have an informal vote. please email whether you think this
release should be 2.6.0 or 3.0.0.
i think there are good reasons for both and i'm looking for some
feedback to tip the balance one way or the other.

i've updated the rpm installation to check if the person is upgrading
from the old 2.5.x gmond and if so it issues the following warning.
