The last time we were dealing with this problem, our defense bailed us out.
I was pretty impressed with the way our defense played overall. The 2nd
quarter was a nightmare, but Bama's offense scored nothing in the second
half, and we held their two-headed monster RB to 110 yards. Mistakes will

That was the difference between a freshman throwing the jumper and Tebow. He

Scott and others,
As you point out, we could have won this. If we score on the first drive,
that may have give us more confidence and the lead.
This may be the kind of butt-whipping that motivates the team for the rest
of the year. It may also be the kind that crushes our morale.

Helen and others,
I am not going to pretend that I know what is in Urban Meyers' head.
However I can guess. My guess that a successful jump pass there does two
things:
1.It demoralizes Alabama and putts them on notice that we can even
make Hollywood plays on them.
2. It mak
The Tampa Bay Rays won the American League East today. I bought tix for the
first game of the series, hoping the Rays would win and the game would be
Wednesday in St. Pete. If they hadn't won, the game would have been
Saturday. Of course, I have a previous engagement in Gainesville Saturday.

Not to beat a dead horse but as I see the offensive issues are two
fold. First we don't seem to be using the personnel to their
abilities. That is Demps on a dive play up the middle for 1 or 2
yards. That is not his strength. Second the offensive line was

Agreed the OL has not played up to its hype. And that certainly could be
attributed to Addazio's work load. With 4 returning starters, I thought the
OL would play better than it has.I still believe moving Pouncey to
center was a mistake.

The thing with the jump pass is that it absolutely requires the defense to
believe the QB is a credible threat to score running up the middle. When
Tebow took the ball and ran two steps toward the line, everyone had to move

I don't think the play calling is that bad, but I do think the offensive line
play has not been anywhere close to where it should be with the talent and
experience we have. To me that is a better argument for taking play calling
off of addazio's plate. The OL needs a full time coach. Anybody
I agree, Charlie. Meyer should stick with recruiting players who fit the
style he wants to play. Being put into this role is certainly not doing
Brantley any favors either.

You're right. Frustration, disappointment, all that. Addazio is not doing
a good job, I agree. I regret the comment very much.

I dont' think the jump pass is stupid, but I do think that the person
throwing it needs to know what to do if the intended receiver is not open.
The inability to score when we're right on the goal line was the most
disappointing thing to me in this game. If we'd punched it in a couple of

I must admit that, while I didn't think we had much chance of winning this

Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on your point of view, that isn't

I will concede you comments. But it would be helpful if Brantley threw the

Scott,
I couldn't agree more. I think this game provides a measuring stick as to
how far the Gators have come and must go to challenge at the national level.
