Hey all. Several of you have responded so far, and let me clarify a couple things. First off, I was writing that email from the floor below my geckos, and after checking, it is indeed Herptivite and RepCap with D3 that I have. I was confused when people were talking about too much vitamin A whe

Title: Re: [gecko]Complaints Against Petshops Well said. Take my favorite gecko genus, Uroplatus, for example. If our hobby didn't exist, who outside of Madagascar would even know they exist other than a handful of biologists? Who would care if they disappeared from the face of the Earth? People

I fully agree with Julie. By claiming that all pet shops shouldn't sell herps at all and they should stick only to dog and cat food is ludicrous (besides, where would I get my parrot food then?). Though I admit some stores are horrendous in their care and they shouldn't carry them, I've seen othe

I've had very good luck with Allen's food and Rhacs. The gargoyle and leachies love it, makes raising hatchlings much easier. Most of the ciliatus were converted by mixing in babyfood. The ciliatus don't eat huge quantities (unlike the other 2 species that like the cups clean), but it's a more co

Rick... As long as your gex are active and apparently healthy, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Actually, I only feed my Rhacs twice a week. A couple comments, though... I'm not sure about Reptical's formulation, but Reptivite has way too much preformed vitamin A IMO. I also don't care for

I disagree with the "all petshops are bad at keeping herps" philosophy. Some are good, let's not lump them in with the lameos. Responsible pet shops deserve your business. As for not getting any more herps, I don't think that accomplishes much towards any conservation goals. If we gexers here,

Just don't buy anything from any petshops. Don't support any petshop. If you need stuff, you can always buy equipment from a home-depot or mail order supplies. I got to the point where I stop getting any more additional herps 6 years ago because just the idea of keeping and buying herps encourages

Hi- Here in Queens, I had a "Petland Discount" store that I named "The Killing Fields". They have a total disregard for their reptiles. Most birds they sell are rather costly, and the loss of valuble "product" is frowned upon. But the reptiles (and fish) they commonly sell are extremely cheap, a
