When I upgraded to feisty, i installed an Nvidia 7600GT dual-head card and
wanted to get 3 monitors working (using an existing ATI card). While
trying to get Twinview and Xinerama to play nicely, i had a few funny
kernel messages. Just thought i'd share, haha.

I don't know how things go in the Ubuntu world, but doing a dist-upgrade
instead of a regular upgrade makes a big difference with Debian.
I'm still getting used to the new Etch. Upgrading there was big but it worked
very well. Depending on how long it had been since installing and how much

Boy, I hope this goes well. I would so love to see some major Linux
desktop proliferation. But then, I'm posting this to a LUG list, so
that's a given, right?!

Good to know though. :) I was thinking about trying out Beryl. If you

Yeah, go for it. I didn't bother when I had FC6 running on my main
machine, because I couldn't get fglrx to work. Turns out, fglrx
doesn't work with my card, but the radeon driver works great with
Beryl.
When it's as easy as 'aptitude install beryl emerald-themes', then
'beryl-manager', you just
This is good news.

I heard on a recent TWiT podcast that Michael Dell is running Ubuntu Feisty
Fawn on his own machine at home. It is apparently noted in the corporate bios
at Dell's website. I have not gone to dell.com to check this out though.

It always starts with one. The upward potential of Michael Dell is
significantly more than most other people. :)

It it uses OpenGL, don't you need an accelerated X driver? There is some
acceleration for free Intel drivers and there's non free Nvidia drivers that
some distributions have that I've used. My experience is that the non free
drivers are more stable and easier to upgrade and work with but not
I'm experiencing two problems on Feisty right now:
1) After a while, automount just stops working altogether. A reboot
fixes it. Not cool, seeing as how, at all times, I am carrying no
fewer than four flash drives in my pocket.
2) GIMP randomly exits. I can't recall an instance when it exited
