the policy in this case but any of the
retired/closed/dormant status would be relevant.

This means that VXQuery would have 2 mentors one of which is an ASF member.
Would this be acceptable to the Incubator PMC, specifically to
Bertrand, Niclas and Kevan?

Definitely we want to do all the things by the books, since we all respect
and admire the Apache brand and it's values.
We'll take into serious consideration all the advice we receive.

it says "All Mentors must be members
Hi Ant,
We had a discussion earlier at XMLBeans about sponsoring VXQuery, but there
wasn't an official vote. I didn't know this route was available, I thought
the Incubator PMC has to approve it. So, we'll take it on the XMLBeans with
an official vote.

Quick update, for folks that don't follow Tuscany's dev list:
There is a discussion going on Tuscany dev list whether the SDO part of
the community would like to join the new project in the event it will
get approved in incubation. Once there is a consensus, Kelvin will
update the proposal.

In my opinion SCA and SDO are two completely different technologies,
even if they can be used together, they address different problems and
as specifications they are developed separately.
I think there are a lot of people looking only at SDO for their
projects, and I'm sure there are others looki
wo, but we will not know until
we'll work together. How the two code bases will evolve should be driven by the
community. Kelvin sent a message about this on Tuscany mailing lists a couple
of days ago, until now there were only a few but encouraging responses.
