It may be that your SATA drive has moved from sda to hda. Trying changing it
in your fstab and see if it works. (boot using the live CD and mount the
drive, etc.)

Hi,
This is a bi
reason you know why it won't run, or won't run well, on
ATI? I'm using the ATI driver form the kernel. Does its lack of 3D
acceleration rule out beryl?
Thanks,
Mark

It runs fine on my system. I have an NVIDIA card and run it with AIGLX to
avoid the black window bug.
The only advantage is it looks pretty. There's no real benefit to using it.

Delete usr/portage/sys-admin/syslong-ng and re-resync. It should fix it up

Is there some way to have the installer run emerge --sync before it starts

Kernel Panics like that are often hardware problems either the hardware itself
or a driver. Can you run memtest86 overnight and see if it passes?
Are you using any strange drivers?
With the wide range of problems and the things you've done, it sounds like a
hardware problem.

Just activate the mozbranding use flag and it becomes Firefox (after giving you
a build warning about not distributing the build)
