all the tarballs needed to install an ebuild are stored here and not
erased, IIRC. So you can just erase some big tar's there, which should

for ABI <1, and the XServer is running ABI 1, it says the server will run, but

now i got my now dualcore, and this version didnt really support it well, so
i decided to emerge a newer version, but now i cant get work because 64bit is

1.: i have installed the nvidia-driver by hand, not the ebuuilds, because of
some GL-issues. How can I update my system without installing nvidia-kernel
and nvidia-glx?
2.:I am using Gaim 2, so i have added it to /etc/portage/package.keywords

when i upgraded from 512MB to 1024MB, system got unstable, too. in my case the
memory-chips didnt macht for dual channel mode. memtest didn't find any errors,
but system crashed every 5 minutes. then i disabled dual channel and it worked,
perhaps try that.

my problem has not ended. aufter being happy that my system worked again, i
now wanted to emerge -e system and world, but fater installing/uninstalling
one package and Cleaning up, there are errors while scanning /etc, and then
there are the segfaults again.
